Some information about the book:
「中層理論的建構對於中國史研究的意義至少可表現在兩個方面：一是儘量可使我們擺脫宏大敘事的糾纏⋯⋯二是討論如何改變史界只拉車不看路式的工匠型治史方式。」 ‘The significance of the construction of a theory of middle for the study of Chinese history can be expressed in at least two ways: firstly, to free us from the burden of grand narratives if possible... and secondly, to facilitate our discussion on how to move away from an approach to historical research that focuses only on details and ignores the logic of historical change.’
